Who are the best Picture Framers, Photo Specialists & Digital Camera people in Hamilton?
What is an Imageland?
Imageland was started in the early 1980's as an off-shoot of "Candid Camera". It was the first 1-hour photo lab in Hamilton and continues to be the leader in printing technology and quality.
The present owners (Enevoldsen's) took over the business in 1995. At that stage it was situated in a small shop on Victoria Street in the Kings Chambers (beside the Claudelands bridge intersection) and occupied a space of approximately 400 square feet.
Imageland built on its reputation of quality and good advice. Moving in 1998, to the other side of Victoria St with much larger premises opposite Alma St. The larger location meant they were able to build the range of photographic gear and expand the Custom and Ready Made frame possibilities. Since then the range of products has been increased to cover more categories including Digital compact & SLR cameras, binoculars, telescopes amoung others.
In 2007 the workshop was moved to a more suitable location with parking and ground floor access to improve workflows - the new Workshop is located at 55 Lake Road in Frankton and offers Picture Framing, print on canvas along with a huge range of display materials which can be used for creating a variety of displays, this is a great location for artists and photographers wanting to create something unique for their displays or art reproduction. The City store was also revamped and altered to create a more pleasant environment making it easier to see the range of goods available while giving it a more comfortable feel, the colours we used were based on the colour groups most frequently used in homes when redocorating to allow for a better evaluation of a frame and how it might suit your home.
Imageland was the first in Hamilton to offer the addition of a fully digital Photo Processing machine which used true photographic paper to print your digital files (recently decomissioned) and also a Computerised Matcutter (to make your frames even more creative than ever and to offer bulk/commercial solutions for budding artists and photographers keen on selling their work) has shown their dedication to providing the best service available. More recently an additional 2 interactive machines have been added for printing digital photos and enlargements yourself, and better still... instantly.
We continue to seek the newest ideas and technology from around the world to create the best and most diverse experience available to our customers.
A difference?
We select our product carefully and utilize locally owned and operated manufacturers whenever possible, we support the New Zealand Made campaign and do everything possible to ensure continuity and consistency of supply for our goods so you don't end up with a mis-matched home, we release new ranges of frames that are more "fashionable" and suit the ever changing design of modern homes with a plan in place to ensure continuity of supply for years to come. We also support the use of sustainable and renewable resources.
Our ability to co-ordinate large projects for corporate customers wanting imaging and display handled at one single location with out the "running around" often associated with getting certificates, team photo's, signage or marketing materials ready for presentations, awards ceremonies, office decoration and the like makes us stand out as a full and complete solution for many.
Who is who at Imageland?
These are some of the faces (well, the loudest ones) you might see:
Sheryn Enevoldsen: Director, based at the Kodak Express store at 425 Victoria Street part time Sheryn heads up our buying committee and makes sure we have the best product available.
Lance Enevoldsen: General Manager (and still sometimes Picture Framer, please don't ask David's opinion, he will just tell you Lance gets in the way and can never find anything). He claims he can design & make a frame for anything, and is yet to be stumped. He has great ideas if you have objects or artwork that require unique and creative framing, especially so when preservation of a valuable item is an issue. Most often found in the Lake Road workshop, office (also at Lake Road) or out and about finding solutions or creating something new for all manner of customer requests. Lance will also come to you if an in-home or business consultation is required.
Aimee: Our resident Photo Junky... Printing your photos at the Kodak Express store and keeping the boys in line are Aimee's main tasks. Aimee will make problems disappear and stun you with speed if you have urgent need for photos, canvas prints or enlargements.
Jenna: Working in the office, at the Kodak Express store or in the Picture Framing centre Jenna has good knowledge and experience with photo's and will help to solve problems you may have considered unsolveable! Jenna was recently heard saying "I find it important to go the extra mile and do the ‘little bit extra’ for the customer that would not necessarily be expected. Being able to see the expression (hopefully of joy!) on their face because of something simple that I have managed to do for them is pretty awesome".
Dan: New to the team and based at Victoria Street. Dan will be out and about visiting and offering solutions direct to you soon!
Sarah: Studying Design at the University keeps Sarah well tuned to creating excellent solutions for your displays. Sarah is based at Victoria Street.
Tim: A keen student with passion for photography and an excellent eye for design Tim will be able to help with all manner of things at our Victoria Street Kodak Express store.
David: Operations Manager for our Picture Framing Centre at 55 Lake Road, David has also worked in most other areas of Imageland. If you need something fast, David will be the one making it happen.
Scotty: works mostly on production/high volume orders and sometimes helps out with Custom framing at Lake Road. Scott is a BMX nutter and is currently getting ready to head to South Africa for competition.
